Changes Coming for the Strike Run

E-mail Print PDF
Some significant changes are coming to the Strike Run. These changes will take effect starting with the new Joel Reyes Mini-Series starting this Wednesday at Mira Mesa.

The idea behind these changes is to make it easier for bowlers to recover their entry fees, even if they do not throw any strikes during the Strike Run round.

Although the entry fees are going up, there will be more money to win, and the guaranteed Strike Run Pot is increasing also.

There are three options for mini-series. At the league meeting on Wednesday I am going to poll bowlers to see which option would be most appealing.

Option A $15 Entry Fee
Strike Run Only ($188 min).
The Strike Run pot will grow larger and faster than anything we've seen so far.

Option B
$15 Entry Fee
Strike Run ($188 min.) + Series Money
Everyone who qualifies for the Strike Run will also win series money.
Based on 15 Entries:
1st: $14 + Strike Run
2nd: $10 + Strike Run
3rd: $8 + Strike Run
4th: $7 + Strike Run
5th: $6 + Strike Run

Option C
$20 Entry Fee
Strike Run ($250 Min) + Series Money + Side Pots
In addition to the Strike Run and series money, bowlers will compete for sidepots. We will pay the top two places when there are more than 10 entries. If less than than 10 entries we will pay the top bowler. Sidepots are collected at $3 per entry ($1 per game).
Based on 15 Entries:
Sidepots: ($10 & $5)
1st: $23 + Strike Run
2nd: $17 + Strike Run
3rd: $14 + Strike Run
4th: $11 + Strike Run
5th: $10 + Strike Run

So, the theory is, if you can qualify for the Strike Run you will (at the very least) come very close to getting your money back, even if you do not strike during your Strike Run.

Two other rule changes will go into effect.

The first concerns the practice shot. If a bowler throws a strike on their practice shot, the strike will count as their first strike. In other words, each bowler will have two chances to get the first strike.

The second change is the elimination of the rule that prevents the value of any strike from being less than the entry fee.

This will allow the Strike Run pot to grow larger and faster. Remember that you win money even if you do not strike on your first shot. The prize for 0 strikes will always be between $0 and $6 (most often it's between $3 and $5)

If you have any questions, you can send me an e-mail, post a question on the message board, or you can ambush me at the next Strike Run Event.

STRIKE RUN

how it works

  • Bowlers enter the Strike Run by paying the optional entry fee
  • We use tournament or league scores to determine the Strike Run Qualifiers (1-in-3 qualify)
  • After the league or tournament, we begin the Strike Run round.
  • We start with the highest qualifier, who attempts to string together as many strikes as possbile. He wins cash based on the number of strikes thrown.
  • The prize list is recalculated after each bowler completes their Strike Run.
  • Cash prizes are awarded
  • Videos and tournament results are added to the StrikeRun.com website

  • Results from Week 7 of the King of the Hill Mini-Series (8/29/2010)
